Art House Live Sessions at Top Tomato Market

This summer I'm working as resident dj and visual artist at Art House Live, tucked away inside the Top Tomato Market building in Mar Vista. The gallery and studio space is being run by Jordan Alper, who is organizing events all summer, including live sessions every Friday. The space has come a long way during the past week in preparation for the Katie Boeck and Family Photo show tonight. 

The work included renovating the front and back space of the gallery while rehearsing the bands for Friday's opening. Putting in grommets, painting tables, and hanging a lot of AstroTurf in the back were  just some of the tasks to get Top Tomato Market up to snuff for a performance ready space. Article Webs

Article Webs Vol. 1

In January of 2011 I began working on a project I call Article Webs, which are a series of scores written for the purpose of facilitating improvisation. Almost a year later I was presented with the opportunity to record the most recent webs which had been made during the last month and a half. These are the first studio recorded performances of any of the Article Webs, the were done at Oberlin Conservatory on December 18, 2011. I learned a lot from these recordings and have since made several changes to my instruction for approach.

CHI - LA: Travel

Chicago - Los Angeles: Summer 2012

This summer in LA has officially been kicked into gear with the completion of driving from Chicago to Los Angeles with Bear Pond collaborator Adam Hirsch in 5 days, camping in Nebraska, Wyoming, and Utah (a night in Zion National Park). The variety of sights seen and music heard made the journey a truly unique and incredible experience. Below are some pictures of the different places traveled, as well as Adam and Gabe. I'll be back on here soon with a list of all the music bumped on the trip.
